AN INDEPENDENT VOICE FOR SENATE DISTRICT 20.

Mom. Small-business owner. School board member. Problem-solver.

Michele doesn’t answer to a party. She answers to you.

A call for common-sense governance

Oregonians are working harder and getting less. Groceries, gas, housing, childcare — everything costs more, and Salem’s answer is always another tax. I’m running because families in Oregon City, Gladstone, Happy Valley, and Milwaukie deserve a senator focused on results, not politics.

Making Oregon Affordable

Oregon families carry one of the heaviest tax burdens in the country.  I’ll vote no on new taxes until Salem shows it can spend the money it already has– with accountability.

Safer Neighborhoods

Every family deserves to feel safe in their neighborhood. That means fully staffed local police, real consequences for repeat offenders, and serious tools to stop fentanyl dealers. I’ve worked alongside law enforcement for years on drug prevention — I’m proud to be endorsed by the Oregon City Police Employees Association.

Schools That Deliver

As a school board member, I’ve seen what works: high expectations and accountability. Oregon suspended its graduation standards — I’ll fight to restore them, so a diploma means our kids are ready for college or a career.

Real Results on Homelessness

Oregon has spent billions and the crisis has grown. Compassion means results — treatment for addiction, accountability for spending, and cutting the red tape that blocks shelter and housing from actually getting built.

Salem doesn’t need another partisan vote. It needs someone who listens, works with both parties, and gets results — like I’ve done on our school board. Let’s get Oregon working again.

Hey, I'm Michele Stroh

I’m a lifelong Oregonian who believes our state is worth fighting for. My husband and I have raised five children here over the past 36 years, so I know what it takes to build a life in this community. When I couldn’t find the right childcare, I left the banking world to start a small business—becoming a ‘home away from home for children who needed it. My focus has always been on being in the community and making a difference—from Marching Band and 4H to community sports and student council.

Taking Action When It Matters Most

My commitment to public service became a mission after the tragic death of our son, Keaton, in 2020. He was killed instantly by a fake pill containing Fentanyl. I turned my pain into action, first running for the Oregon City School Board to educate our community and save other families from this heartbreak.

Once elected, I worked immediately with our school nurses to bring forth Clackamas County’s first Narcan policy, which passed unanimously. I didn’t stop there. I pushed for statewide education on fentanyl and other drugs in all schools, which passed in the last session. As Chair of Oregon City Together, a drug and alcohol prevention coalition, I continue to host education nights with our local police. I also worked with the Fix M110 coalition on a bipartisan effort to amend the measure, seeking to give law enforcement the tools they need to stop the influx of drugs and dealers into our state.

I ran for re-election to the school board last spring and won! Now, I’ve chosen to run for Oregon State Senate District 20 because our community’s voice isn’t being heard in Salem.

The Narcan policy I championed passed unanimously. The fentanyl-education law I pushed for passed with votes from both parties. That’s how I’ll work in Salem.

Michele Stroh Announces Candidacy for Oregon Senate District 20

Twice-Elected School Board Member and Childcare Business Owner to Bring Conservative, Common-Sense Leadership to Salem

OREGON CITY, OR – Michele Stroh (R), a two-term elected member of the Oregon City School Board and longtime small business owner in the childcare industry, officially announced her candidacy today for Oregon Senate District 20. With deep roots in the community and a track record of public service, Stroh is running to restore balance, accountability, and common-sense leadership to Salem.

“As a lifelong Oregonian, mother, and small business owner, I’ve watched with growing concern as our state government continues to lose sight of what matters most–strong families, safe communities, quality education, and a healthy economy,” said Stroh. “I’m running for State Senate to bring conservative leadership and real-world experience back to Salem.”

For more than a decade, Stroh has successfully operated a licensed childcare business in Oregon City, giving her firsthand insight into the challenges families face when accessing affordable, high-quality care–and the regulatory burdens placed on providers.

“Running a childcare business has shown me just how disconnected Salem is from the realities facing working families and small business owners,” she added. “We need leaders who understand how to serve–not stifle–the people who keep our communities strong.”

Stroh has also served two consecutive terms on the Oregon City School Board, where she’s been a tireless advocate for parental rights, student achievement, and transparent governance. Her leadership has consistently focused on raising academic standards, restoring orderly classrooms, and ensuring every student has access to a high-quality curriculum.

“Oregon’s children deserve more than failing test scores and political agendas in the classroom,” Stroh said. “They deserve schools that prioritize academic achievement, respect for teachers, and safe, focused learning environments.”

Her campaign will focus on common-sense conservative values and practical reforms to strengthen education, public safety, and the economy.

Key Pillars of Stroh’s Campaign Include:

  • Education That Works: Elevate academic standards, support teachers, restore parental rights in the classroom, promote high-quality curriculum, and ensure safe, orderly classrooms where students can thrive.
  • Safe Communities: Back law enforcement, support crime victims, and fight for stronger public safety policies.
  • Support for Small Business & Childcare Providers: Cut red tape, lower taxes, and create a regulatory environment where small businesses–especially those serving families–can thrive.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: End reckless spending and bring accountability to state budgets.

Stroh’s candidacy has already drawn support from prominent Oregon conservatives, including Senate Minority Leader Bruce Starr.

“Michele Stroh is exactly the kind of leader we need in Salem,” said Senator Bruce Starr. “She brings integrity, courage, and real-world experience to the table. As a school board member, mother, and business owner, she understands the issues Oregonians face every day. I’m proud to support her campaign for Senate District 20.”

Michele and her husband have called Oregon City home for over two decades. Together, they’ve raised their children, built a business, and remain deeply committed to serving their community.
